Contactless and zero wear: Millimeter-wave modules redefine the way welding workstations are connected.
Category:
News information
Aviation connectors (heavy-duty connectors) are high-performance, highly reliable electrical connectors widely used in aerospace, military, industrial, and high-end civilian applications. Due to their critical and demanding application environments, they face particularly prominent “pain points.”
The following are the main pain points in its design, selection, use, and maintenance:
✦ Contact failure
High risk: Signal interruption or power loss can occur due to loose connections, contamination, or vibration in the pins and sockets.
Insulation failure
Moisture, contamination, or aging can degrade the insulation performance between pins, making short circuits or breakdowns more likely.
Mechanical connection failure
Caused by thread damage, bayonet wear, or operational errors, resulting in a loose connection or poor contact.
Pain points in environmental adaptability
Including the degradation of sealing rings, fatigue caused by vibration and impact, and damage to materials from extreme temperatures.
Operation and Maintenance Pain Points
Problems such as improper insertion and removal force, difficulty with blind insertion, and substandard on-site termination processes.

Currently, a new solution already exists, namely: Millimeter-wave short-range communication module 。
Install the transmitter module next to the workstation and the receiver module on the fixture side to achieve contactless power supply and communication connectivity.
(Module applied to workstation diagram)
The short-range communication module transmits power and real-time Ethernet data wirelessly via an air gap of 5–8 mm:
Feature
●Non-contact
Wear-free, no maintenance required.
● Flexible
High installation flexibility, featuring flexible installation freedom.
● General
100 Mbps (full-duplex) independent protocol with zero-latency real-time Ethernet communication.
● Plug and play
The transmitting module and the receiving module connect automatically, with no configuration required.
● Status visible
The enclosure features a ring-shaped LED, making it easy to observe the operating status from all directions.
● Combination
By combining two module paths, the power supply capacity can be increased, and an automatic current-balancing function is provided.
You can combine any number of receiver modules with the transmitter module as needed.
Power transmission
The transmitting module transmits power sensing to the receiving module.
The module transmits 200W of power in a contactless manner. The transmitting module attempts to connect to the receiving module via active power polling. Once the connection is established, power transmission between the transmitting and receiving modules is activated.
The active closed-loop control circuit maintains a 24V output voltage with an 8A output current until the maximum transmission distance is reached.
Data transmission
Data is transmitted in parallel via two 60 GHz communication frequencies (one uplink and one downlink).
A separate frequency band is used to enable full-duplex mode. The short-range communication module supports real-time contactless communication and is completely protocol-independent.
The fixture side can be used as is. Field-Level IO Adaptive Module This module has the following features:
No waste in I/O points
Input and output have adaptive capabilities.
Features IP67 protection rating
Supports high-speed communication
Compatible PROFINET 、 EtherCAT 、 Modbus TCP Agreement
Be equipped with 10/100Mbps Adaptive function.
